The construction of the Mactaquac Dam had an enormous impact on the Keswick Ridge area. Not only did the construction and related projects influence the local economy, but an entire village (Jewetts Mills) was displaced; many other family homes were also moved or demolished.
The Mactaquac Baptist Church, which had been a focal point in the community, was destroyed.
